My Reflex spends most of it's life between 55 and 75 MPH (indicated), around 70 miles per riding day (or more) in traffic.

The only things that wear out are my tires, belt, and brake pads!

I remember I hated that when I traded for my first Honda, a '66 CB450. 80 mph (IIRC) was like 8000 rpm. I was used to British twins. A magazine aricle I happen to remember after 44 years said, "It is a buzzing little bomb". After a while I realized it wasn't coming apart, I wasn't hot-rodding it, I was getting good mileage (65 mpg @ 70-80 mph), so I just road it. I couldn't believe it, a beaten down Honda was far more reliable than my British custom bikes that I lavished care and money on. I switched. Haven't looked back. Life is good.

I really only researched the 2006 model. Maybe 2005 was different. I'd like to find that what you say is true.

Rear Shock Pre-Load Setting and Rider Weight

I just wanted to let everyone know that they should look closely at the rear shock setting on their scooters. When I bought my 2006 reflex about two weeks ago the shocks were adjusted to the 3 setting. After riding it for a while I noticed that the ride was harsh and bottoming out for the Ohio roads I was riding on. I weigh about 195lbs. and decided to move the setting up to 5. I took a ride and noticed that the ride quality was much improved. I think I will move it up one more notch to 6 and compare the two settings. I think the standard factory setting is designed for women and light weight men probably under 140lbs. I know when my wife starts riding with me 2 up, I will probably move the setting up to 7 or to the Higher setting on the shocks, as our combined weights will be about 340lbs. I would like to know if other reflex riders noticed this, and what their weight and shocks are set at? Thanks, Jim

If you don't have the spanner wrench you can use vice grips. Just be sure to wrap the metal part of the shock with some old inner tube so you don't scratch the area when doing the adjustment.

You can also order the spanner from any honda cycle dealer. I think they cost around 5 dollars. Also try a honda dealer online. Just look-up the reflex with the online dealer and you will see the toolkit breakdown of tools.

Chrome? Mine's painted black.

When the scooter is up on the center stand, those adjuster rings turn easily - plus the "special tool" doesn't fit well on the muffler-side - no room.

I put a piece of tape around the adjuster area, then just turn it with channel-lock pliers.

For what it's worth

Just checked out the polls on the shock setting #. I was really surprised to see so many reflex owners riding at a setting of 3 and below that weighed 150 to 200 lbs. My experience will not have me riding at those settings. I have pretty much settled in at either 5 or 6 for solo riding  for my reflex. I guess "different strokes for different folks" is the rule. Thanks for the poll info Bruce. Jim

It's for making the shock adjustment. It hooks into the holes around the bottom of the shock and you just turn it to the desired setting.

If you don't have the spanner wrench you can use vice grips. Just be sure to wrap the metal part of the shock with some old inner tube so you don't scratch the area when doing the adjustment.

Thanks, Jim

It was also on the #3 setting and I set up to #5 and it made all the difference in the world. I weigh 210 and think I will set up to #6. When I was messing with it I went beyond the #6 setting and it all of a sudden fell to the bottom, I don't believe it has a #7. Just my 2 cents worth.

> I meant to type in www.MrCycles.com. There are other websites that you can buy Reflex parts on too -- I just found this site had the best prices I could find for new parts.

I shopped several on-line parts suppliers. I found the best deal at:
http://fiche.worldofpowersports.com/

They are the first I have found that has good discounts on OEM Honda stuff. The variator driving face is 25% off. The weights, weight holder, and all are also discounted. But a plastic body piece I need isn't.

George, how could you doubt yourself?

The only difference I could find is that the BIG Ruckus CLUTCH HOUSING has one more "cooling hole" (and is a different part #).

loosening the forks i dont think works i tried ,the front axle makes a tight fit and "squares" it with the wheel thus keeping the wheel "straight " and solid .i have the same problem slightly .

you are certain that it isn't just the bar itself that is tweaked?
