Scooter Shop.com lists a K&N airfilter for Honda Reflex 250, PN 10110894 @ $50.16 ea. Scooter Trap.com lists K&N Reflex filter for $55 (I believe this includes shipping?) I haven't ordered one yet, to confirm this, but I will be trying to order one locally first (perhaps Napa, etc, as I recently ordered a K&N filter for my Mazda MPV minivan). I will 'report' what I find out...Fezzik in WA

Hi,

50 bucks seems like a lot of money for an air filter high perfomance or not. I've been using Parts Pitstop out of Grand Rapids. Here's a link to the air filter housing:

http://www.partspitstop.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/7/Honda.aspx
Hope this helps

Sorry folks,
That link only gets you to the parts supplier site, but just follow along to type-Scooter, model-NSS250A(or your model)and you'll come to the air filter housing page. $22.87 not to bad for an OEM filter.

Truth is, I cut out the media of an old filter and just use some 2" thick polyester media in it's place. This is the same type of filter we use on make-up air systems for restaurant kitchens, and this media has a great holding abilities. You can get these filters from Grainger. I have been cutting up a 20*25*2 polyester filter(Grainger part#5W104) for a little over 2 years now, and at this rate, it will last the life of the bike.

However, should try this type of filter. I HIGHLY recommend removing the whole filter when changing the media element. This will insure the dust trapped in the filter will not get into the engine. You will be surprised how much dust the filter will hold. And it goes everywhere when you pull out the element.

Again sorry about the link.

I have the K&N filter in my 02 Flex and it has performed well through the Fall, Winter, and Spring months here in Western Virginia. We have winters in the single digits and Summers in the 90s. Haven't had the filter in long enough to see how it does in the hot summer. The scoot fires up first try almost every time. Only time it has had trouble is after it sat all day in 85 degree heat. Had to give it a bit of throttle to start. Only happened once or twice, so it may have just been a bad tank of fuel. FYI, be very certain to get a good seal with the K&N filter as it doesn't have a gasket. You use a thick grease in the old seal groove to seal the filter in (provided with the filter). FYI, the stock filter is about $40 delivered through Bikebandit.com, the K&N is about $62. I know there are cheaper alternatives, but I live up a gravel drive and dust and dirt worry me, especially since the reflex air intake is quite low to the ground.

K&N DOES make a filter for the Honda Reflex. part # HA-2500-1
which corresponds to Honda part # 17210-KFG-010. HOWEVER, this
only covers the model years 2001 through 2006. For model year
2007, the Honda part # is 17210-KFG-020.(I swear I saw it once,
but every time I look now, it lists the same # as prior years..
..... very weird) Anyway, all parts providers I checked all list
the same part # 17210-KFG-010 for replacement. So, even though
K&N only lists 01 through 06, it should fit the 2007 Reflex too.

http://store.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=HA-2500-1
There are also lots of ebay deals for a little bit cheaper.

The K&N is a cleanable/reusable filter. According to their ad:
"Our stock replacement air filters for street vehicles are covered
by our famous K&N Million-Mile Limited Warranty™ and will be THE
LAST AIR FILTER YOUR VEHICLE WILL EVER NEED."

That is why they cost 50 plus bucks. It might work out to be about
the same (maybe, maybe not) since the OEM filters are about $20.
So you'd think you would be ahead with the K&N for not having to
replace after what would be the first few OEMs. But, you need to
clean them and oil them regularly with K&N cleaner and use K&N
filter oil since using anything else voids the warranty. So that
expense adds up too.

Personally, I'm all for anything other than the hassle of the K&N
filter. I mean since you've got the thing opened up, just stick
an OEM filter in there... no messing around with volatile cleaners
and messy oily red overspray.(I know this because an ultralight
aircraft I once owned had K&N air filters.) I also think if you
have your own "recleanable/replaceable" method of replacement that
works, then go for it. I like the idea that Craig B. has since the
material he uses is specifically made to filter air. (though not
in as severe an enviroment as the road maybe.) And, it's not some
cheap and cheesy seat cushion, arts and crafts type foam rubber
either. So I suppose it would be no different than how we already
do it. And that is by cleaning/replacing it when the filter media
gets dirty.(How ever long that may take.)

Just my rather extensive 2 cents. (quite a bargain really......
cheap, but detailed and thorough.......mostly)

(2007 Honda NSS250S Reflex Sport "Scarlet")
(2006 Honda FSC600A Silverwing "Jester")

Hi,
I have a set of kevlar brake pads on the front of my Reflex, but I haven't noticed anything better or worse than stock. They feel the same to me.

*ACTUAL* Honda reflex weight?

Posted by: "Jonathan Vaughn" spotchicus@yahoo.com   spotchicus

Thu Apr 29, 2010 5:46 pm (PDT)

So I was looking online for how much the Honda Reflex weighs, and noticed something wierd. The honda press release site (and all the other spec sites) have the 07 Reflex weighing 375 pounds (dry), while reviews and spec sites for older models have it listed in the 340s (dry). Now one of these has to be wrong... does anyone know which is more accurate, or better yet, how much these actually weigh wet?

Thanks!

Jon

When I was shopping around recently, I found that ServiceHonda had the best prices on parts (at least the ones I was looking for for my 2002):

http://www.servicehonda.com/look-up-parts/03

The shipping was painful though. After they quoted me $30 shipping (which I thought was pretty good) for my shipment (including the very large front fairing), I later received an email saying it could actually cost an additional $59. I or could cancel my order but be stuck with a 20% restocking fee of approximately $60. Hmm, $59 to get what I ordered or $60 to get nothing, so I sucked it up. Lesson learned: call or email and get a firm quote on shipping up front.
