Hello Bob
I own a Scarabeo 250 with 16 inch wheels and a Honda Reflex.
I purchased the Scarabeo first and really enjoyed riding it in the
Hills and twistes. Its has plenty of get up and go and handles well
in the curves and cross wind. The Scarabeo has 18,000 miles with the longest trip being 1100 miles.
The only problem is Mechanical. It got to the point I did not trust it
for a ride over 300 miles. The solution was to buy a Reflex.
Purchased Reflex in May last year and have make three trips on it and have had no problems. Just returned from 23000 mile ride across Texas.
The reflex is rougher riding and does not handle as well as the Scarabeo. The get up and go is not quite as good as the Scarabeo.
The day Honda starts importing their big wheel SH300 model I will purchase it the first day.
I do enjoying both scooter but prefer the Scarabeo around town and short rides.

Hi Ed- Thanks for the response. I have a Piaggio bv200 also with nearly 18,000 miles. I've had it since it was new and absolutely love it. I'm kind of in the same boat. It has not failed me but with the miles it has I'd like to have a "back-up" in case it does. I know the valves need adjusted etc. I'd like to use the Reflex and the bv so not to completely wear one out. Kind of goofy I know but I hate being without a scooter. The Reflex I'm looking at has extremely low miles, is in perfect condition, and is very well priced. I can have these two for way less than the price of a new Burgman 400 for example. The bv handles very well and I was wondering how the Reflex compared having never ridden one. For the kind of riding I do I think the Reflex should work- it would just be "different" from the Piaggio. The Piaggio is powerful for it's size so the Honda should be equal with 50cc extra displacement. The small tire size is the only thing keeping me from just getting the Reflex.-Probably just a mental thing that my brother-in-law planted in my head about small wheels. I never would have thought twice about it. I'm leaning towards getting it and if I don't like it I'm sure I can sell it without loosing anything.

Hello Bob
You will not like the Reflex unless you do the K-MOD.
I was going to sale mine avter a month it but did the K-Mod and it improve the git up and go very well.
The Reflex will still out perform 400 cc scoters in the curves and hills.

Don't let the small tires prevent you from gettng probably the best scooter
honda built.
I put 70 a day on one, and even though I have the 600cc silverwng scooter, I
use the flex for daily commute.
The K-mod helps it be perkier, easily done and reversed if it's not for you.
I get avg 71mpg, and have about 46,000. I just put a fresh set of tires on
her and expect to do 4 or 5 more sets before it's life expectancy becomes
questionable.
I fully expect to exceed 80,000 on it. I would like to see a vespa, piaggo
or one of the other very well made scooters with the same mileage.

Just curious, Ed,
Why didn't you go for a SilverWing instead of the Reflex? Seems more suited for the kind of riding that you do.

Air filter alternatives

I need a new air filter for my 2003 reflex. Is Honda my only source for the air filter or are there any other companies that make a replacement air filter. I do not want a washable air filter. Just a simple replacement. Thank you

For a temporary fix we tucked it in and covered it with black electrical tape. It has held for over 3000 miles.
