Any of you folks swapping out your stock windshield for a Givi would like to sell it, I'd be interested. Like new, of course! I'm in NY, BTW.

Roger,

Thanks for the Ebay filter link... I just bought two of them!

I gotta tell you, having to pull all the tupperware to access the fuel filter bugs me. It bugs me enough that I will almost certainly install an access panel in order to easily inspect/change it.

I'll take pics and stuff if I do.... just ignore any Miller Lite cans you might see in the background!

Well, I'd move it to a location where you don't need to pull anything, I
think others have done this, maybe one will chime in with what they did too.

I am interested in what you finally do as well, I'm certain at some point I
will have to do something with mine, (going on 46k)

How about RELOCATE IT - using some added hose - instead of cutting an access panel?

New Owner questions

Hello,
I am a new owner of a 2007 ABS model Reflex. (previously owned a  Elite 80 and a Pacific Coast 800). I purchased from a Honda dealer who claims to have checked it out under their preowned program. There is 7600 miles on the clock. To the best of my knowledge only a rear tire has been changed. I notice while riding there is what I call light chop and vibration in the ride on smooth roads. Kind of a torque'y or cam'y feel if you will, and I haven't been above 50 mph. (I did test ride in the parking lot before signing but assumed it was the road surface).
My only other experience with larger scooters was riding a Helix, which to me was silk smooth. To get to my question, is the vibration and chop normal for the Reflex or am I being to critical. I checked the tire pressure and the shocks are set to 3. Could the rear oil or drive belt be an issue, or any other ideas to look for?
Question #2
I keep the Reflex in So Florida and there will be 6-8 week periods where it will not be run. I am aware of the ethanol problems and full tank storage, but fuel preservatives have not really worked well for me in the past. Has anyone found an easy way to add a fuel cut off switch so I can run it dry, or hasn't this been a problem with the Reflex? or can the carburetor bowel be drained easily?

Put the bike on the center stand and run the RPMs up to see if the rear
wheel is out of balance.

WELCOME!

See comments below:

<SNIP>
I notice while riding there is what I call light chop and vibration in the ride on smooth roads. Kind of a torque'y or cam'y feel if you will, and I haven't been above 50 mph. (I did test ride in the parking lot before signing but assumed it was the road surface).

Someone else offered a great suggestion - run it on the center stand and observe - and it is possible that the tire is not mounted properly, or needs to be balanced.

Another source of vibration is the Drive Train - the belt slips against glazed pulley surfaces, or the two different set of variator rollers (on a stock non-Kmodded Reflex) can "fight" each other between 35 - 50mph.

By the way, the belt should be changed every 10k miles or 6 years.

The Reflex has an electric fuel pump, so if you WANT to run it dry, interrupt the GREEN wire going to it; but for 8 weeks I believe that if you keep the tank FULL (and perhaps add some Dri-Gas) you should be fine.

Yes there is a drain on the float bowl, but that's going to be a painfully slow way to drain the tank, plus the fuel pump will have to be running too.

Hope that helps

No, thanks. I just bought a center panel from Bike bandit, super glued the license bracket holder back on, and found that the clear plexiglass was the only thing broken on the light housing assy. so I just broke the plexiglass out and it looks pretty good. as far as reporting the hit and run, I feel pretty stupid about not getting the guys license plate written down before he made his exit. The traffic was thick but kept moving. no one stopped. I waited about 15 minutes for him to come back and inspected my bike to see if any thing was unrideable. it was 80 degrees and I was hot in my riding gear. I finally left, gingerly and feeling stupid. Not next time!

Now my question is, How do you remove that assy? Do you have to pull out the body panels and then split them to get to the screws that hold it in? Then, after he got out and shook my hand, said that he had to pull his truck out of traffic. I believed him until he disappeared. I'm stuck with fixing it!!! I'm 57 and still nieve!

The wire colors on the case don't match so I tried it one way and then the other to see which way worked. The total process took 10 minutes.

Re: Would sealant likely help a tire valve leak?

Good afternoon, all -

I'd also had a slow air-loss situation which I traced to a faulty valve-stem...in your case, the shop may have installed an old stem with a hardening grommet, which didn't conform well to the wheel to achieve a seal. Or maybe they strained the grommet in the installation process.

I'm intrigued by the idea of using tire sealant to help a seeping valve stem; but as a mental exercise, I wonder whether sealant could actually get to the `inside' of a spinning wheel? I'd expect the centrifugal/centripetal forces of a spinning wheel to cause the sealant to all flow to the center of the tread-zone.

Just for fun...
