Fuel Filter/Fuel LInes

Seems as though it's time to change the fuel filter..... and I don't relish spending the bucks that Honda wants for a simple inline filter. Does anybody know the fuel line size offhand? That way, I could actually buy the CORRECT fuel filter before I go disassemble the bike. Speaking of which, WHAT MORON CAME UP WITH THE FUEL FILTER LOCATION??? He should have spent some quality time with the guy who designed the spark plug door!

I bought my fuel filter off of Ebay for $3.25 + $1.75 shipping. Though it says these are for a '75-'87 Goldwing, they are exactly the same filter. Even the Honda part number is the same (16900-371-004). If you just want the dims the lines are 1/4" in and out, the total length of the filter is 4", the body of the filter itself is 2 7/8". The Emgo part number is 14-34480. Link to Ebay filter below:

tire valve leak

I have had a leak around the REAR tire valve. I got new tires and had a new
90 degree tire valve put in along with the new tires. This was last fall.
I Noticed It Still has a leak around the tire valve and had a flat this
morning. Couple questions what the heck is going on with the leak around the
tie valve, and where can I order one off the net instead of waiting for Honda
to order it for me. Thanks Bob</HTML>

There is nothing unique about that tire valve. Go to any tire shop and you can get one.

But - having experiences something similar, I suggest that you simply get some PJ1 or other tire sealant COMPATIBLE WITH ALLOY WHEELS and suitable for high-speed cycle use (yes - high-speed, not ATV speed). Squirt it in and your problem WILL be solved - no hassle.

Hope that helps

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I went to go take a look at the wires on my bike and just want to make sure I am going to do this to the right wires..I removed the little case like (black) under my seat to be able to see the wires and found a green and green and yellow along with some others connected to a white splice connector....is this were I would add the spice to??? Sorry if this seams really dumb. but I am a female and not to good without all the directions....

I hooked the two wires from the case to the green/yellow wire and the plain green wire. I used these splice connectors from radio shack http://www.radiosha ck.com/product/ index.jsp? productId= 2998435. The wire colors on the case don't match so I tried it one way and then the other to see which way worked. The total process took 10 minutes.

Exhaust gasket again ?????????

My 07 Reflex now has had 4 blown exhaust gaskets in only 28,000 miles. I don't think I'm pushing it too hard the last time it happened I was only riding at around 55-60 mph and the tac was running around 6.5K.

I understand that the now-discontinued Big Rukus (a Reflex in wolf's clothing) has this problem, and that there is an aftermarket copper ring gasket available.

However, this is not a common problem, and can be address by:

1. Re-TORQUING the fasteners a couple times after a couple heat-cool cycle.

2. Ensuring that the exhaust components are firmly fastened.

It is also REMOTELY POSSIBLE that you have a burr or nick on the metal mating surfaces; or that there is a BLOCKAGE in the exhaust path resulting in overheating of the exhaust parts.

Hope that helps

Not sure if it's the same on the reflex, but on my 73 monte carlo, I ended
up having to use metal washers, as it's a rather rich running engine, and I
could never keep asbestos or the new material they use now, in the donut
gaskets from blowing out after a few a** hauls :)

Are the gaskets vulnerable to a rich running exhaust, and thus maybe could
be carb adjustments?

I run my MC rich as it's a bracket / street racer.

Just a thought.

bought 2007 reflex last Saturday.

I am getting ready to turn 63 years old in a few weeks and have been riding a suzuki dr650 dualsport for the last 4 years. Have been having major problems with my right knee and everytime I would throw my leg over the saddle, which is very high by the way, my knee would hurt really bad. So I sold it a couple months ago and bought this honda Saturday. It was a one owner with 1314 miles on it. I have been very impressed with it. 67 mpg on the first tank and cruises 70 easily on the interstate. A breeze to get on and off. Today I changed the oil, filled the radiator up, aired the tires up, took the spark plug out and it seemed to be burning perfectly. Also adjusted the valves, set the idling up where it should be, cleaned the filter for the belt drive system and ordered the higher givi windshield. I gave $2760 for it. Did I do OK?

Sounds like you did very well. I ride about 70 miles per day on my 2001
reflex. It gets right at 70mpg, sometimes a little more, sometimes 68, but
that's the average.

Mine has been sitting for a week waiting on a tow up to get tires on it, and
I have been riding it's big sister, the silverwing. I miss the reflex!

I also put on a taller givi shield, the 210 not the 211 (tallest of the 2),
it made all the difference in the world. It's a pleasure to ride.

Welcome!

I also ordered the givi 210 windshield, being 5 feet 10 inches tall I figured that one would work fine. The first time I rode it I noticed the windshield was 3 or 4 inches to short.

It was the first thing I did. I rode mine for about one week after buying
it, and ordered the windsheild, I had had enough of the wind right smack dab
in my face shield, nah, wasn't for me :)

Man, I hate it when an old guy like me still learns the hard way. I was coming up on a yellow lite and decided to brake for it. I just got to a stop when this guy in a truck slammed into my rear, knocking me out into the intersection. Luckily, only the taillight and center panel was broken. Now my question is, How do you remove that assy? Do you have to pull out the body panels and then split them to get to the screws that hold it in? Then, after he got out and shook my hand, said that he had to pull his truck out of traffic. I believed him until he disappeared. I'm stuck with fixing it!!! I'm 57 and still nieve!

I hope you called the police and filed a report with them. In most states that's called hit and run.

The Parts Catalog in the FILES section will provide the info you need.

I haven't done it - but it looks like the tail light assy is held in with 4 screws - 2 from the outside, 2 inside.

If I'm thinking of the same Center Panel - two "set screws" from the lower outside, and 2 "tabs".

Are you sure there were no witnesses? Hit and run is a big deal in California...

Hope that helps
