<Wished I could think of the expensive one I used at work when digitals first came out.>

Fluke, perhaps?? The old 8020/8060 line was a gold standard of sorts.

<The good old analog never has to be turned off. It still works fine. 44 years & counting, that's my backup.>

Simpson 260, perhaps??

But the Simpson can't determine a capacitor's value, OR auto shut-off.

Ahhh, nostalgia.

Flute it was, and it was concidered the gold standard while it worked. The analog was had the co. name on it. A little better than the simpson (personal openion). We did check capacity with them by reversing leads and the momentary scale deflection. The old boss said you didn't need fancy scopes to fix things. NOW he was old school Rick in KY

The anti freze leaked from the back of thee out of th air cleaner box. It came out of the 2 drain tubes? in the back bottom of the air cleaner. When I opened the air cleaner box I saw anti freeze on the inside bottom back. I noticed a hose at the upper back of the air cleaner box. Could anti freeze have come from this hose?

The mechanic said the head gasket could be blown.

I would do the same routine and the engine would start. It also stalled when I was going down hill and my revs dropped. I made it to the end of the ride by keeping slight pressure on the throttle so it won't stall. I also noticed anti freeze in the clear tube with the plug. I opened that several times to drain the fluid.

The mechanic said the head gasket may be blown.

When I opened the air cleaner box I noticed antifreeze at the back bottom where the tubes are. The clear tube would fill with antifreeze, I would get a couple of tablespoons full of fluid when I opened it. Antifreeze also drained from the bottom black hose. I can't figure out where the antifreeze came from.

There is a hose the top back of the air cleaner housing which was disonnected. I reconnected it before I dropped the scooter off at the Honda shop

Any Ideas would be appreciated.

The other air hose is air into the PAIR valve - emissions control.

Clearly the coolant didn't come in to the air cleaner that way - since it was disconnected.

The problem is that the shop has screwed up the CARB, which has a coolant line running through it.

It isn't the head gasket, and if they claim it is, you are getting scr_w_d! A blown head gasket will never result in coolant getting into the air cleaner.

For what it's worth

I am selling my yellow reflex with only 41,000 miles. It has been good to me but now I am riding my majesty more and more. The reflex has a tall Givi windshield and a 33Liter Givi top box. There is a 12v adapter under the seat. The but bumper was removed and the seat recovered. It has new tires and Yes, it has the K-mod. Asking $1950, and at that price I will toss in a new tunnel bag. I am getting 70 mpg everywhere except interstate. All maintenance has been done on a timely basis. There are a few scratches here and there. If you are looking for "just like new" pass this one by.

blowout at 60

Had a blowout on the rear avon @ 60 mph.

Luckily here I am.

It had 8k on it, I rode it perhaps 500 miles more than I should have.

Never again for an avon stryke. What a waste of money.

Tony:

Wish you the best with the Majesty. They are nice. Let us know when you
reach 41k on it, and let us know how much you had to do to it to get to that
point. I suspect you are going to sorely miss the reliability of the honda.

BTW, 1900 is a little steep for something with 41k on it, I would give you
1k now, and come get it.

WOW...

If I were you, I'd be telling my loved ones how much they matter to me, more often. That is, after I washed my shorts.

You be one lucky dog. Congrats on the positive outcome on a serious incident. Glad to hear you are with us.

Does this make you MORE or LESS inclined to slap a car tire on the Flex? :)

PS: You have me on the edge of my seat with the blowout saga. Did the bike or yourself suffer any damage? When you are ready to talk about how it all went down, I'd be all ears!

Joe,

What was it like having a blowout at 60 mph, handling, maneuverability,
speed reduction, etc?

I'll get pictures of the tire maybe tomorrow or Friday before we put it on
my friend's trailer and haul it up to Lake City for new tires to go on it.

I was 8 miles from my destination, and had it towed to there.

I would say I had about 6 seconds to make all the decisions I made, and no I
was able to stay upright and not drop the bike.

I'll talk about it later.

I heard a pop, and felt the bike going down, with rpms immediately climbing
as the motor was straining to keep speed.

I knew what happened, immediately let off the throttle and after about maybe
4-5 seconds it began to wabble badly. After letting off the throttle
I never applied any brakes, although I was tempted to hit the fronts only,
but refrained from doing so. I felt it was better to let it slow on it's
own. I would have jumped off of it and slid in the grass belly first if it
had begun to fall. I'd rather slide by myself thanks. So in a nutshell it
didn't become uncontrollable for maybe 6 seconds or so, and by that time it
had slowed itself to about 25-30. The tire was entirely flat and the bead
was broken.

At 60 you got anywhere from 4-8 seconds I'd guess.

My advice is don't panic, and resist braking for as long as you can.

I'll get a pic of the tire and put it in my photo album on the group.

Thanks to those who asked and for the well wishes, it was certainly scary
for a bit.

As far as the car tire goes, I'm putting bridgestone oem's on this time, car
tire is going to have to wait it out some more.

I just had a set of Michelin Pilot Sport SC Performance tires installed. Has anyone in the group had any experience with these tires?

Thanks,
Seth
