Mine started yesterday as well. I am also in the NC Mountains Boone here. Mine also spends the winter outside under a cover. I cranked it once in Jan and let it warm up then again yesterday. Unfortunately no rides yet the ice is still only clear as a tire track width of each side of my road back road, limited time in the sun. Looking forward to riding again soon. Let me know maybe we can go for a ride . Tom

I was pleasantly surprised here in CT too. We've had a pretty wimpy winter here with all of the big storms just missing us, but that is probably equal to (or worse) than what NC saw.
My Flex has been in the shed since early December and I never did get around to pulling the battery out and bringing it indoors.
Sunday was nice and sunny here so I shoveled a trail from the shed to the road through the remaining snow & took the battery out and put it on a trickle charger.
Monday was nice too so the trail was now just all soggy grass so I took the battery off the charger and re-installed it. The scoot fired right up on the 4th crank and I took it for a spin around the neighborhood.
Tuesday was nice too so I took it for a 45 minute ride around the area with a stop on the way back.
Wednesday was 35 degrees when I left for work and about 55 on the way home and sunny.
All nice little rides, on the lookout for sand on the roads and keeping the speed down to somewhere near the speed limits.... ; )
My scoot is an '03 with the original battery. I guess the surprise was that it still takes a charge and still is working fine. I was expecting to have to buy a new one but it is still going strong.
So far anyway. We'll see.
This being New England, winter is not over yet. I'm just happy to have her out of the shed so early this year!

Ride Safe & Happy,

Look at the thread about "Free Shipping on T Box" for the latest advise about wiring top box lighting.

I care.

You can't buy the manual in printed form from anyone other than Honda or
Helm. What makes you think that there is a LEGAL electronic copy available?
Even Honda (through their HRC) won't let you download the thing.

The many pdf copies that have flooded eBay and tradebit are just that,
COPIES of the PRINTED MATERIAL. Since it isn't Helm offering the electronic
version how could it be legal?

In my not so humble opinion, people who don't care about copyright also
don't care about following any other laws. If it's OK to STEAL someone
else's material, would it be ok for me to come to your house and take your
TV?

Well..... there are many people who are new to this list and people are joining all the time. People who are new to this list don't always take the time to read every single post that have been sent since the beginning of this list. They also don't always do a search of the message archives before asking/posting questions. That means that they may not have the knowledge or history when they post a question.

I post "continious, over the wall obnoxious rants on the subject" because I believe strongly in copyright protection. I also make it a habit to make Helm Inc. aware when I see ILLEGAL copies of their material on eBay. If I had more time in my day I could do even more.

If you don't care about a subject, the easiest/best solution is to ignore it. There are many ways to accomplish that task. But please be aware that each and every time the issue of the ILLEGAL ELECTRONIC COPIES of the service manual comes up, I will respond accordingly.

End of Manual posts thread

Posted by: "BruceK" bruce@aplusservices.com   bruceakoehler

Thu Mar 11, 2010 1:13 pm (PST)

This is the end of the thread on whether there are any versions of the Reflex service manual other than the print version from Honda, printed by Helm.

Yahoo terms of use require that unlawful items are not posted.

I have e-mailed Steve - who claimed that a relation of his verified the legality of a pdf version sold on-line. I asked him to send that proof to me.

He has not responded accordingly as of this post.

So based on what Tim Hansen has been told by Helm, who produces the Honda-authorized version of the manual, this group owner's position is that on-line versions are not authorized (in violation of copyright law) - and therefore cannot be posted in this group.

I realize that new people join, and that they post the question about availability of an on-line version - not knowing the long and arduous history of that topic.

I also realize that other members may respond to that query, also not knowing the long and arduous history of that topic.

So there is no reason to flame what may be innocent posts regarding this topic; BUT

I will include the information above in an auto-mailer that goes to all new members. Perhaps this will address the issue.

Enough already!

This is the end of this incidence of this topic.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
