Considering that we ride two-up & frequently use our Reflex off road, I was wondering if there is a stronger clutch available???
Thanks,
Mark

I think you should either consider getting a 'real' off road bike to off-road with, or be prepared to replace clutch shoes frequently. I would think you are beating the crap outta them. This bike isn't intended for the use you are using it for, especially 2-up. But to each their own.

I'd think those clutch shoes must be stinkin' something fierce on the dirt & gravel, like a car clutch would when it is abused. Not to mention the outer clutch bell getting too hot & blue-ing.

The BIG Rukus clutch will work - but as best as I can tell, the only difference is that the housing has one more cooling hole - but it might be worth a try...

Clutch shoes

As I'm near the 36k mile marker, I will be doing the usual maintenance routine soon...belt, oil, rear drive oil, etc, soon. I've wondered about the clutch shoes too. Anyone have to replace them for wear & tear yet? Just wondered how long they last under average use, and where mine stand as far as lifespan goes. I know the minimum spec is 0.5mm...anyone know what they measure when new? I would like to check them when I rip into her next time, and also want to ask you folks for recommendations on a decent tool to do so. "Snap-on" quality is not needed.

thanks

The clutch shoes pretty much last forever if you ride on streets (not tow-up off-road, etc), and don't use the clutch as a brake at stops on a hill...

But they are cheap - as are the springs that go with them.

Some info in the FILES section.

There is a file on fabrication a clutch tool (actually, it isn't for the clutch springs, but for the BIG rear pulley spring - required though to ACCESS the clutch shoes).

You can also use a large vise - or take the assembly to any automotive machine shop for disassembly/reassembly (it comes off as one piece with no need to fiddle with that spring during removal) - just take the replacement clutch shoes and their springs with you.

Hope that helps

If I put that into google weird stuff comes up. The place I buy mine still
shows the original part #. (OEM)

My guess is that's an aftermarket belt.

Perhaps someone else can give you more info.

The OEM belt is 61.00 at dgy.com, and the rollers are 9 bucks.

How much did you pay for the belt? That would be an indicator too perhaps.

Good Luck!

If it doesn't clearly have the Honda logo on it, it is probably not a Honda belt. Bando is a German company. There is another Honda scooter very similar (but not identical) to the Reflex, called Foresight (never imported to the US) - it may be a belt for it - and it may be OK...???

The possible problem you MAY run into is that there ARE "replacement" belts that will "work", but are narrower than stock.

Ask the dealer if it IS a Honda belt - if not, I'd return it myself...

I suggest that you read the stuff in the FILES section on belts.

Hesitation on roll-on

The weather finally cleared (and warmed) up in Houston and I took the Reflex out for a long run. Sometimes the easiest fixes are the place to start. I noticed that the idle speed was only between 1100 and 1200rpm. I took the side access plate off and increased the speed to 1500 per the book.......goodbye hesitation!!! Thanks to all for the many possible causes....always good to file these away for another day.

Okay I have lurked on here for quite a few months trying to make up my mind about buying a reflex. I recently sold my Ruckus and actively looking for a decent Reflex.
I ran across an 07 Reflex Sport NSS 250 with 5000 miles. He was asking $2950.00 but said he would take $2750.00..
My question to all you knowledgeable people is:

Is that a decent price?

Any other info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Indiana Dave

Well it's the last year you could get them in the US which makes it's book
value the highest.

A sport model looks good, I like the chrome handlebars, makes it easy to
mount accessories, etc.

The rear, however, will make it a bit harder to do a trunk if you were
planning on it.

The windshields on the sports are very small and worthless, you may consider
a givi 210 or 211 shield or if you like the wind then ride on!

Other than that, they're fantastic scooters. Personally I ride the hell out
of mine to the tune of about 400 miles weekly.

Does it have the ABS brake option?

You may wish to shop around a little bit. We picked up a 2005 with 1600
miles on it for 2500 (non-sport model)

Hi Dave,

Well, Kelley Blue Book

http://www.kbb.com/kbb/OtherVehicles/PriceType.aspx?VehicleClass=Motorcycle

lists a standard Reflex and a Sport Reflex at $3,610, and if you have ABS, the listed value goes up to $3970. However, list price these days is only the pie-in-the-sky starting point, and my guess is few are getting the list price. So, if the bike you are looking at is in good shape, and runs well(check the oil before you buy it!), and has been maintained $2750 isn't that bad of a price, but I'll bet $2,500 cash in hand would make it yours.
Good Luck and
Ride Safe
