Re: Update on "found Reflex" in my driveway

Hi Steve,

I found this to be such an interesting saga. The bad guy would have been smarter not to leave that Reflex in the driveway of someone who was so knowledgeable about scooters! I'm amazed he didn't just trash it somewhere. Probably too lazy. This way he could just walk home.

Does anyone know how the rightful owner handles getting the serial numbers restored? Seems like that could be a hassle for him.

Just another typical 18 yr old..act before they think!! From what my CHiPer friend tells me, they, DMV have some sort of a permanent sticker that is engraved and placed at 2 different places on the scoot. I don't think he knew me or anything about any knowledge I may have had of scoots or anything else. Just a convenient drop spot!

Probably readily available at any Honda dealer or online parts store that
sells OEM parts.

Bruce, Are you saying even since you use synthetic oil , you 'd still change your oil in your scooter every 2000?

I change it - and any synthetic oil - once a year. Which is more often than necessary.

None of my vehicles see 12k a year.

The scooter, probably 2k...

THere are many issues surrounding oil change interval - and (at least) one is irrespective of the type of oil - that is, contaminates that accumulate in it, particularly from stuff in the combustion chamber getting past the rings. And keep in mind that this scooter has no REAL oil filter - just a debris screen.

I don't want that stuff accumulating and attacking the metal surfaces - so that's why I change it one a year (which is certainly overkill on the scooter - giving that I only ride 2 - 4 k / year); but oil is cheap and easy to change... and my Flexie is worth it!
